Do you live in the Washington, DC area, live with a disability, and have a challenge that you would like assistance in overcoming? Do you know someone who fits this description?
Nova Labs in Reston, Virginia is gearing up to do a 72-hour make-a-thon in which teams of makers/engineers/designers work directly with individuals with diverse abilities to develop solutions to everyday challenges. The event will take place September 14-16, 2018. They are looking for volunteers to participate as “knowers” – people who have a deep understanding of the challenges faced by people with disabilities and are eager to discuss ideas to improve quality of life through making. These volunteers would join the team in-person for the make-a-thon. You can learn more at Empower2Make. You can also volunteer or suggest a challenge. It should be an exciting and impactful event.
